This one-of-a-kind statement necklace definitely makes a statement. Elk are powerfully symbolic for me. I have a large elk skull and antlers tattooed across my chest, done by my extremely talented friend Laura Graham. A symbol of endurance, resilience, dogged persistence and standing in one's own power and strength. I've had a recurring dream most of my life, of a large elk standing in a valley surrounded by mountains, slowly turning it's head around with it's expansive antlers appearing as if to hold the sky.

I call this piece The Elk KingWoman: Holds Ground/Earth/Water/Sky. Historically, male elk and antlers have been a symbol of male energy. But I feel that sort of prowess and presence also belongs to women and all humans, animals and genders. To stand in your own grace and hold ground.

This necklace was entirely hand fabricated from silver sheet and wire. It features natural, gemmy, glossy Stone Mountain turquoise from Nevada. It was cut and beautifully cabbed right here in-house by my partner and Lapidarist: Max Avila. It's set in a fine silver bezel and four vintage, very old stock, natural Arizona turquoise nuggets adorn her antlers, as well as a tiny snake.

The antlers are wide at almost 5.5" across and I designed this piece to sit just below the clavicle on the sternum. It has a textured oval adjustable chain with two different style links that are doubled closer to the antlers, making it adjustable for the wearer simply by hooking the large swivel style lobster clasp to any of the chain links.

As with any piece of handmade jewelry art, it's important to treat all, and especially more ornate pieces like this one with care. Please refer to my jewelry care section and reach out to me if you have any care questions. This necklace has a brushed satin finish and I sealed the patina and silver with a museum quality wax called Renaissance Wax, which will help keep the darkened parts dark and brighter areas bright.  With proper care and handling, this piece will stand the test of time and become an heirloom piece of art jewelry.

The back plate is stamped with my LUPANYXA makers mark and STERLING.
