This statement sized asymmetrical peacock feather neck cuff makes me so happy. Entirely hand fabricated from sterling silver sheet and sterling wire. At one end, it features a bright, chatoyant royal peacock blue Bridewell Stone. Hand cut and cabbed here in-house by my partner and 2nd generation Lapidarist, Max Avila.
The feathers all have color change mood "stones", that are treated with a water based compound that reacts to heat and UV light, allowing them to change colors, from dark blue/black, to purple, green, orange, pink, yellow, etc. NOTE: you do not want to get these mood stones too wet, like submerging in water etc. As that will affect their ability to change colors.
Each of the three feathers were meticulously textured, formed and detailed, then soldered to sterling wire that was then soldered to hefty walled sterling tubing that I used as the necklace cuff/ring.
Being that each of us has varying neck sizes and sternum shapes, this necklace is slightly adjustable to mold to your unique shape. That being said, once you get it to suit your shape, try not to continue to bend or reshape the smaller components, as metals begin to "work harden" and can get rigid or brittle when flexed over and over again.
Should fit most neck sizes up to approximately 15". Total length of the necklace from the smaller end with the Bridewell Stone, to the tip of the middle feather is 18". As with any piece of handmade jewelry art, it's important to treat all, and especially more ornate pieces like this one with care. This necklace has a brushed finish and I sealed the patina and silver with a museum quality wax called Renaissance Wax, which will help keep the darkened parts dark and brighter areas bright. With proper care and handling, this piece will stand the test of time and become an heirloom piece of art jewelry.
